Introduction and Background

Koloshi is a village in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra State. It is located in the Taluka Kankavali. The total project area of the village is 10002 hectares. The population of the state is 10,000 according to the local survey of 1996. The rainfall in the area is 3750mm per annum on an average.

Aim

The aim of the project was to integrate the remotely sensed and ground verified data about the natural systems using a GIS, so as to serve as an effective micro-level planning toll.

Objectives

  • Terrain mapping : Updating existing terrain information to a higher resolution for micro planning. through 5 m interval contour map.
  • Digitization of cadastral information.
  • Generation of baseline data (geological and hydro geological data) for micro watershed planning.
  • Integration of various available data sets.
